We are a non-government charity aimed at building bridges among people of all cultures in Dunedin. Our members come from all over the world and our elected management team are all part-time volunteers. Funding for our activities comes mainly from community grants. DMEC has no political or religious affiliations.
What does DMEC do?
We hold regular social gatherings, family nights and potluck shared meals – an opportunity to exchange cultures and to meet and get to know one another.
We also hold regular sports events such as multi-ethnic soccer and lawn bowls and each year we stage a Race Relations Day concert and world food extravaganza.
We also provide advocacy and support for newcomers and an official forum and voice for the concerns of our members and supporters.
Can I join DMEC?
We welcome new members and participants. If you would like to join us or participate in any event that interests you please don’t hesitate to contact us.
